World changing leaders
If you Google greatest leaders of all time you’ll get combinations of names like Mahatma Ghandi, Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, Hitler, Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela, Mao Zedong. The ability to inspire
Some of those leaders inspired war, some inspired peace and some inspired change. All were very different personality types in everything from how they related to others, to their vision for the outcome of their aspirations, yet all were able to inspire millions.
No matter how different they are, whether introspective or extroverted, captivating an audience through a yell or a whisper, people who are able to become great leaders share a at least one thing. Passion
Passion of a great leader
Most of us aren’t trying to change the whole world, we’re simply trying to change a piece of it. Great leaders don’t have a vague idea of what they want to accomplish, you don’t see them vacillating about their objectives or wondering if they’re right. They have a vision (or a dream) and their depth of commitment to that vision influences every aspect of their lives.
True passion is energized and energizing. People are drawn to it. They want to be part of it. Not only is passion contagious, it has the ability to change the world – or at least a piece of it.
A leader may not know how they’re going to get to their destination but they absolutely know where they’re going and they have the ability to communicate their vision and inspire full confidence in others. As Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” He’s not just talking about his own faith there, he’s also talking about inspiring that same faith in others so they’ll want to follow him on the stairs.
Leaders see the world differently from how it is and their passion for change inspires others to share that vision and work together to make the change.
