Happy Mother’s Day

Dear Mom,

When I was four, I said Happy Mother’s Day with a bouquet of wilted dandelions and you thanked me as if I’d given you a dozen beautiful long stemmed roses.

By the time I was seven I understood the value of roses so I used them in a poem:

Roses are red,

Violets are blue,

The Greatest Mom in the world is

YOU

Through year after year of hand drawn flowers, bouquets picked and bought, Mother’s Day dinners and lunches, I’ve been trying to say the same thing.

Thank you.

I should remember to say it more often, but on this day at least, I want to thank you. For so much love and encouragement. For all the lectures and the laughter. For teaching me that life is an adventure. I love you always.

To Mothers everywhere, Happy Mother’s Day!
